Clothed in Humility (1 Peter 5:5-7)

"Humility is the oil that allows relationships in the church to run smoothly and lovingly" (Thomas Schreiner). Makes sense that Peter reminds us that God both commands and commends humility, it's critical for smooth relations. We'll all get along better when we take on the mind of Christ that esteems others more highly than ourself.

Spirit-Filled Slaves (Ephesians 6:5-9)

When I say yes to Jesus' offer of salvation. Jesus purchases me with His blood and pays my way out from slavery to sin. As a result, Jesus becomes my new master (Lord) and get this.. I become His slave. That's awesome. I am under new ownership and now want to serve a amazing master. That's the heart of a Spirit-filled slave!
