What's the Bible have to say about church leadership? In short, the Bible teaches that God ordains two roles in the church to lead and care for the local church body. The pastor/elder oversees the spiritual aspects of the church while the deacon cares for the practical needs of the church.

Our true identity as Christians comes from who we are in Christ. In many ways we suffer from identity crisis in the church because we base our opinions and views of ourself and others based in past performance whether good or bad. That's not who we are. Our identity rest solely in who Christ is and what He is doing in and through us.

The funny thing about spiritual warfare is that it takes surrender to win. Surrender not to the enemy or our temptationsHoly Spirit on an ongoing basis. That's how we assure ourselves victory in our Christians walk, which is an awesome witness of the gospels power to change lives.

Statue of Liberty (1 Peter 2:13-17)

Just as the Statue of Liberty symbolizes our freedom as US Citizens, Jesus wants Christians to live in such a way that we symbolize the freedom that we have in Christ. He wants us to be monumentsof Christian liberty, which in turn is a witness for the power of the gospel to change lives.

Follow Christ in Doing Good (1 Peter 2:18-23)

But what an awesome opportunity to demonstrate the grace of God at work in our lives as we endure for the Lord's sake. Those around us see the evidence of a gospel that not only saves but sustains us until we are with Jesus.

Jesus. Heaven’s Shepherd! (1 Peter 2:24-25)

As followers of Jesus, it is good for us to come back to the cross as a reminder of what our wonderful Shepherd has done for us. It should spur us on to a greater worship and desire to live for him. Rejoice, your Good Shepherd is looking out for you.

Woman of Witness (1 Peter 3:1-6)

Much of our witness for Christ begins in the home. We are in that section of Peter's letter where he is challenging us to Lifestyle Evangelism. That is, being a witness for Jesus through Godly living. Here in the opening verses of 1 Peter 3, Peter instructs wives how they can be a "Woman of Witness."

Man on a Mission (1 Peter 3:7)

Continuing in the section of Peter's letter where he is challenging us to Lifestyle Evangelism in the home. Peter has some counsel for husbands. In short, he exhorts husbands to be a "Man on a Mission". That for sure will be a witness for Jesus.

Liv’n the Good Life (1 Peter 3:8-12)

Peter exhorts us to raise the bar on relationships. Telling us in essence that a key to "Liv'n the Good Life" in Christ is to improve relationships with others. That's the epitome of "Lifestyle Evangelism".

Preparing for Life’s Storms [Pt 1] (1 Peter 3:13-16)

There's a consistent and reoccurring theme in Bible as it relates to God's people and suffering that goes something like this. Life, more times than we like to admit, is marked with suffering. In this next section of Peter, God wants to prepare his people for the often common storms of life.

Peter concludes this section on suffering with a highlight reel of the things most important to "prepare" for life's storms. Trials are a part of life, are a source of joy and last but not least purify. Realizing that God uses trial for our good is the most important lesson one can learn in preparing for trials.

Christ has called pastor/elders to a sobering responsibility; to care for the flock of God, to the same measure He does. Peter reminds us that includes shepherding the flock, oversee the flock and avoid the pitfalls of the ministry.
